The Canadian Cancer Society has extended the 2023 call for nominations deadline for their Awards for Excellence in Cancer Research.

Please note that the deadline for submissions is now February 15, 2024 at 5pm ET.

The Canadian Cancer Society Inclusive Excellence Prize

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership in the advancement of equity, diversity inclusion and accessibility as it relates to the cancer research ecosystem in Canada.

The Canadian Cancer Society Lifetime Contribution Prize

This award recognizes an esteemed investigator whose contributions to cancer research extend beyond traditional research accomplishments and outputs in Canada.

The Canadian Cancer Society Robert L. Noble Prize

This award recognizes an esteemed investigator and their achievements in basic biomedical cancer research in Canada.

The Canadian Cancer Society O. Harold Warwick Prize

This award recognizes an esteemed investigator and their significant contributions to cancer control in Canada.

(For the purposes of this award, cancer control is meant to include clinical (including clinical trials), health services, epidemiological, behavioural, psychosocial, population-based or similarly applied research aimed at reducing the burden of cancer. Cancer control does not include research in the basic biomedical sciences.)

The Canadian Cancer Society Bernard and Francine Dorval Prize

This award is given to an outstanding early career investigator* whose basic biomedical cancer research contributions have the potential to lead to, or have already led to, improved understanding of cancer treatments and/or cures.

 The Canadian Cancer Society William E. Rawls Prize

This award is given to an outstanding early career investigator* whose research in cancer control research has the potential to lead to, or has already led to, important advances in cancer control.

(For the purposes of this award, cancer control is meant to include clinical (including clinical trials), health services, epidemiological, behavioural, psychosocial, population-based or similarly applied research aimed at reducing the burden of cancer. Cancer control does not include research in the basic biomedical sciences.)

*Note that CCS has extended the eligibility window for early career investigators – with those who began their independent research career after December 31, 2010 being eligible for nomination.

 Note that nominations for 2023 will be submitted via EGrAMS and that the nominee must create their own nomination profile. Please view the full nomination guide here. Please read the guidelines carefully to ensure that nominations are submitted correctly by the deadline.

Note that nominees need not have held CCS funding to be eligible for an award, and that Inclusive Excellence Prize nominees need not hold an academic research position.

Renominations are also encouraged. Letters are eligible for up to 4 years, but must be submitted with a current CV. In fact, many awardees have been renominations.
