External Deadline: Monday 29th, July 2024

Description

The Melanoma Research Program (MRP) released program announcements for the following funding opportunities:

  • Survivorship Research Award *NEW for FY24*
The intent of the SRA is to address the relatively new and underfunded area of melanomaspecific survivorship by supporting a broad range of innovative and impactful research that has the intended outcome of improving the health and well-being of melanoma survivors, their families, and/or their caregivers (Figure 1). Applications may propose development of evidence-based practices, behavioral health science and survivor and/or caregiver well-being interventions and surveillance, and/or identification of psychosocial survivor outcomes. Clinical trials are allowed.
  • Idea Award
The FY24 MRP Idea Award supports innovative, untested, exploratory, high-risk/potentially
high-reward concepts, theories, paradigms, and/or methods that address at least one of the FY24
MRP Focus Areas in Section II.A.1.
  • Melanoma Academy Scholar Award
The MRP Melanoma Academy (MA) is a unique, multi-institutional virtual academy providing
intensive monitoring, national networking, collaborations, and a peer group for early-career
investigators. The overarching goal of the MA is to develop a network of successful, highly
productive melanoma researchers in a collaborative research and career development
    environment.
  • Team Science Award
  • The intent of the FY24 MRP TSA is to support a broad range of hypothesis-driven,
multidisciplinary studies that are responsive to at least one of the FY24 MRP Focus Areas in
Section II.A.1 and have the goal of advancing the state of the science in melanoma research
and/or patient care. Team science is a synergistic effort that harnesses techniques, approaches,
and perspectives from multiple disciplines and/or therapeutic areas to address complex, multidimensional problems that will impact patient outcomes. The TSA is intended to bring together
investigators from divergent disciplines to achieve innovations and advancements in melanoma
research and/or patient care that could not be achieved by any one investigator working
independently. While basic research is allowed, all applications are expected to articulate the
short- and long-term benefits of the expected research outcomes for the melanoma patient
    community.
  • Focused Program Award – Rare Melanomas
The FY24 MRP FPA-RM is intended to support a multidisciplinary research program of at least
two, but not more than three, distinct but complementary projects addressing an overarching
question relevant to rare melanomas (see Figure 1 on the next page). Applications for the FPARM may propose projects across the entire research spectrum (biology, etiology, prevention,
diagnosis and detection, prognosis, treatment, and quality of life) and must address a critical
unmet need relevant to rare melanomas (e.g., uveal, acral, mucosal, pediatric).

To view the program announcements and submit a pre-application visit:

A pre-application is required and must be submitted through the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) at https://eBRAP.org prior to the pre-application deadline.

All applications must conform to the final Funding Opportunities/Program Announcements and General Application Instructions which can be found on the Grants.gov website (https://Grants.gov).  A listing of all CDMRP and other USAMRDC extramural funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420. Applicant organizations must be registered in SAM (https://www.sam.gov/SAM/) and receive confirmation of an “Active” status before submitting an application through Grants.gov.
