Memorial Deadline: RIS review not required for LOI
External Deadline: Friday 1st, November 2024
Description
Genome Canada has launched a new funding opportunity for generation of population-level genomic data, which will be the first pillar of its soon-to-be announced large-scale precision health initiative. The goal of Genome Canada’s planned investment in the first pillar of the initiative is to sequence the genomes of at least 100,000 Canadians, reflecting Canada’s unique and diverse population. This will provide the rich dataset needed to advance research, drive innovation and improve health-care outcomes for all Canadians.
Genome Canada and partners are investing an anticipated $200M to support projects that advance precision health utilizing genomics data. The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research will co-fund up to two (2) projects that will generate population-level genomic data and other multi-omics data to advance research in the areas of cancer prevention and early detection, with objectives to:
– Acquire greater insights into the interaction of the host genome with risk of cancer development;
– Advance understanding of the influence of the exposome on cancer risks; and/or
– Advance tools for early detection of cancer
