Launching in July 2021, the JDRF Canada – Brain Canada Addressing Mental Health in Type 1 Diabetes Team Grants is intended to fund two multidisciplinary Canadian research teams with grants of up to $250,000 each over two years.

The goal is to support the development and testing of sustainable, scalable approaches that will enable improved support for people who live with T1D and are affected by certain mental health disorders, and will translate into better quality of life and diabetes-related health outcomes for these populations.

Eligible teams will be made up of two or more independent investigators from different institutions, or distinct departments within the same institution. Teams should include at least one collaborator who is a person or family member (aged 18 or over) with lived experience of T1D, or a patient group representing people living with T1D.

Increasing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in research environments enhances excellence, innovation and creativity. JDRF Canada and Brain Canada are committed to excellence through equity, and we encourage applicants of diverse backgrounds to apply to our funding opportunities.
