Description

With a mission of advancing the research and understanding of human microbiota, the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation is calling on inspired researchers at Canadian institutions in the microbiome field to submit proposals for funding their projects. For 2019, the Canadian grant will be awarded to an investigator studying a 1 to 2-year long research project within the topic of microbiome in human health and diseases.

Candidates

Applicants must be a scientist/researcher/clinician with an appointment at a Canadian institution/university. Visiting scientists may apply and official confirmation by the Canadian University as well as Director of the Institute/ Department where the research will be performed must be presented. Research performed by visiting scientists must be performed in a Canadian University.

The grant is intended as a seeding or bridging grant, to help investigators become independent or advance in the progression of their career. Mid-career or senior scientists who do not have current CIHR Foundation funding are encouraged to apply. Holders of CIHR Foundation grants or total funding exceeding 200k per year may not apply.

If post-doctoral fellows apply, they must provide proof that there is transitional support to a faculty position. Please also note that this grant is intended to help initiate a project in order to become independent from postdoctoral supervisor/program, and thus should be a research project independent from post-doctoral fellowship or project with mentor. Mentor/preceptor must be listed as co-applicant for administrative/account purposes. There are no limits to the number of co-applicants. However this is not meant to be a team grant.

Grant must be applied to research in a Canadian institution.
