The Spring 2022 Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute Cancer Research Training Program funding competition is now open.

Twice each year the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute holds a competition that provides funding to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical research fellows undertaking cancer research at recognized institutions in Atlantic Canada.  A limited number of traineeship awards will be offered to outstanding applicants with an interest in cancer research. Supervisors must be Scientists, Senior Scientists or Associate Members of BHCRI to apply.

Funding for these awards has been made available from a variety of sources with various restrictions.  Applicants are encouraged to visit the BHCRI website to ensure eligibility.

To become a CRTP trainee and apply for funding (CRTP Award), Both the Intent to Apply Form and Pilot Program Application must be completed and received by admin@bhcri.ca by the deadline of 4pm AST on 4 March 2022.

The Intent to Apply Form and Pilot Program Application, CRTP Award Application and Checklist are available to download on the BHCRI website: http://bhcri.ca/traineeship-application-package

Please note: Both the Intent to Apply Form and Pilot Program Application must be received by the deadline of 4pm ADT on 4 March 2022 in order to apply for a CRTP award. CRTP Applications received without Intent to Apply Forms and Pilot Program Applications will not be reviewed.

The CRTP Award application deadline is 4:00pm ADT on 1 April 2022. Funding for approved awards will begin on 1 September 2022.

If you already have funding and would like to become a trainee in the Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP), please complete the Pilot Program Application by 4pm ADT on 4 March 2022. All trainees working in cancer research in Atlantic Canada are encouraged to apply for the Pilot Program to become part of CRTP. Being part of CRTP has many benefits. Please visit the website https://bhcri.ca/bhcri-cancer-research-training-program for more information on the program.

The pilot application consists of a letter of support from the trainee’s supervisor/program director and a letter from the applicant (trainee) outlining their cancer program and commitment to CRTP. Supervisors must be members of BHCRI in order for trainees to apply. Trainees who are accepted into the program will automatically become members of BHCRI.
