Description
Pfizer Global Medical Grants (GMG) supports the global healthcare community’s independent initiatives (e.g., research, quality improvement, or education) to improve patient outcomes in areas of unmet medical need that are aligned with Pfizer’s medical and/or scientific strategies.
Pfizer’s GMG competitive grant program involves a publicly posted Request for Proposal (RFP) that provides detail regarding a general area of interest, sets timelines for review and approval, and uses an internal Pfizer review process to make final grant decisions. Organizations are invited to submit an application addressing the knowledge gaps as outlined in the specific RFP.
For all independent medical education grants, the grant requester (and ultimately the grantee) is responsible for the design, implementation, and conduct of the independent initiative supported by the grant. Pfizer must not be involved in any aspect of project development, nor the conduct of the independent education program.

It is not our intent to support clinical research projects. Projects evaluating the efficacy of therapeutic or diagnostic agents will not be considered. Quality improvement initiatives are out of scope.
This competitive grant program seeks to support independent medical education activities focused on advancing genomic competence and patient-centred communication in mBC. Applicants are encouraged to identify and address the educational needs of healthcare professionals related to the appropriate, consistent, and patient-centred use of genomics in routine mBC management. Proposed educational activities should focus on strengthening HCP knowledge, competence, and confidence in 2 genomic testing and interpretation, while equipping clinicians with the communication skills needed to translate complex genomic information into clear, patient-centred discussions that support shared decision-making.
Projects that will be considered for grant support will focus on one or more of the following educational objectives:
- – Increasing understanding of fundamental genomic biology relevant to mBC subtypes and the selection and timing of genomic testing (e.g., tissue vs liquid, broad vs targeted panels)
- – Improving HCP knowledge and confidence in interpreting complex molecular reports, including actionable alterations, resistance mechanisms, and variants of uncertain significance (VUS)
- – Building HCP competence in applying genomic information to evidence-based treatment decision-making, including navigating evolving guidelines and regional access variability
- – Strengthening HCP communication skills to explain genomic results in plain language, discuss uncertainty, and manage patient expectations
- – Enhancing HCP capability to support shared decision-making that incorporates patient values, preferences, and quality-of-life considerations
- – Exploring the responsible us of AI-enabled learning tools (e.g., interactive case simulations, practice dialogues, personalised learning pathways) to reinforce genomic education and communication skills.
Examples of educational formats that will be considered under this RFP include but are not limited to:
- – Case-based educational workshops or masterclasses
- – Modular virtual learning curricula
- – Educational simulations of molecular case discussions (designed for learning, not clinical practice)
- – Blended learning programmes
- – Faculty-led or train-the-trainer educational models
- – Expert interviews, conference coverage reviews, and on-agenda educational sessions at live congresses
– Online articles, webinars, podcasts, videos, infographics, and animations
