Description
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is now accepting applications for the Career Awards for Medical Scientists (CAMS). This highly competitive award provides $700,000 over five years to support physician-scientists at a critical transition in their careers—from advanced postdoctoral training to the early years of faculty service.
CAMS is designed to:
- Protect time for high-impact research as physician-scientists build independence.
- Encourage innovative approaches in basic biomedical, disease-oriented, or translational science.
- Strengthen the pipeline of clinician-investigators by supporting career development at a pivotal stage.
- Eligibility highlights:
- Applicants must hold an M.D., D.O., D.V.M., or equivalent clinical degree.
- Applicants should be within the last years of advanced postdoctoral training and moving toward independence as faculty.
- Strong publication record required, including at least one first-author peer-reviewed paper.
