CIHR and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) are partnering on the eighth Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) research funding call: Implementation research targeting non-communicable disease risk factors associated with city environments. |
The eighth GACD call for applications will focus on implementation research proposals with the potential to equip policymakers and practitioners with evidence-based strategies for reducing the risk factors for non-communicable diseases in cities in disadvantaged populations globally. In the context of this funding call, ‘cities’ include urban centres, informal settlements and slums, and periurban areas. Research should aim to improve health equity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) or among disadvantaged populations in high-income countries (HICs). Proposals that take a planetary health approach and that bring together teams across disciplines and sectors are encouraged. Evidence of collaboration with communities and decisionmakers, such as policymakers or health system leaders, is required. |
