Description

CIRA is excited to announce their upcoming annual Net Good Grants call that funds community-led internet projects that build a resilient, trusted and secure internet for all Canadians. Grants of up to $100,000 are available for research projects relating to infrastructure, online safety and policy engagement.

Net Good by CIRA starts from the premise that the internet is a net positive for the world. CIRA supports projects, communities and policies that make the internet better for all Canadians. CIRA does this through three pillars – infrastructure, online safety and policy engagement. They also fund grants for community-led internet initiatives through an annual call for applications. CIRA collaborates with partners across the tech and policy sectors, nationally and internationally.

Net Good by CIRA is funded from the revenue CIRA generates through .ca domains and cybersecurity services.

Here are the key details:

  • The application period opens on March 1, 2024
  • Applications must be submitted before April 10, 2024, at 2 p.m. ET
  • CIRA funds internet projects that benefit Northern, rural and Indigenous communities, and students (K-12 and post-secondary)
