Description

Through the establishment of Collaborative Networks, MINDS will increase and diversify research on defence and security issues in Canada. Defence seeks multi-disciplinary research networks with diverse groups of experts from across Canada and internationally, to work together on specific defence policy challenges. Funding will be provided for three years, allowing for more in-depth and nuanced analysis of key issues.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity for the expert community to benefit from increased funding to pursue creative and innovative research in the field of defence and security, while meeting the Defence Team need for relevant and timely advice and broaden the spectrum of expert voices contributing to the conversation. Network members will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with colleagues across the country and around the world to assist the Department in addressing policy challenges.

Networks will support the Defence Team with decision making and policy development by curating in-depth research into the Department, responding to short-term requests, and contributing to an informed public policy discussion on defence and security issues.

Who Can Apply?

• This opportunity is open to multidisciplinary teams with interest in the domain of security and defence studies.

• The network lead must be a Canadian citizen, and affiliated with a Canadian institution (academia, think-tank, NGO, etc.).

• Federal and provincial crown corporations are not eligible for funding under this program.

• The candidates must be ready to fulfill a list of broad objectives (see Annex A for the complete list of deliverables) and willing to provide regular feedback and progress reports.
