Description
Following the successful Canadian CubeSat Project (CCP) in and the CubeSats Initiative in Canada for STEM (CUBICS) in , the Canadian Space Agency is launching a new Canada-wide initiative. CUBICS will provide postsecondary institutions across Canada with an opportunity to engage their students in a real space science mission by designing, building, testing, and eventually launching and operating a CubeSat in space.
CUBICS will provide hundreds more students with opportunities to acquire hands-on expertise in a wide variety of STEM disciplines and develop invaluable skills to transition into the Canadian workforce to tackle the exciting opportunities that Canada’s space sector has to offer.
CUBICS features a new stream designed to challenge more experienced teams with the possibility of building a larger (6U) CubeSat, and to help introduce new schools (including those less experienced in space disciplines) by teaming up for collaborative projects, which may include building a payload to be hosted aboard the mission.
This Announcement of Opportunity (AO) is consistent with the terms and conditions of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Class Grant and Contribution Program to Support Research, Awareness and Learning in Space Science and Technology – Research Component (the G&C Program).
