CIHR is pleased to announce the launch of the Doctoral Research Award: Fall 2017 Priority Announcement (Specific Research Areas) Priority Announcement.

The specific objectives of this request for applications are:

  • To provide recognition and funding to students early in their academic research career, providing them with an opportunity to gain research experience;
  • To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.

The CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative, which is responsible for the management and oversight of the research components of the Federal Initiative to Address HIV/AIDS in Canada, will provide funding for applications that have a primary focus on HIV/AIDS across all CIHR Research Themes (i.e., biomedical research, clinical research, health services research and social, cultural, environmental and population health research).

Research that focuses on key populations identified by the Federal Initiative to Address HIV/AIDS in Canada is highly encouraged. Please visit the Federal Initiative website for information on the key populations and the population specific status reports which provide guidance on future policy, program and research priorities.

The total amount available for this RFA is $ 315,000, enough to fund three awards. The maximum amount per award is $ 35,000 per annum for up to three years.
