Description

Breakthrough Award Levels 1 and 2
Proposed research must have the potential for a major impact and accelerate progress
toward ending breast cancer. The near-term and/or long-term impact must move beyond a
minor advancement and have the potential to lead to a fundamentally new strategy or approach
to preventing or ending breast cancer that is significantly more effective than current strategies
or approaches.

Clinical Research Extension Award
The FY26 BCRP Clinical Research Extension Award supports research that extends the data
collection, follow-up, and analysis of breast cancer clinical studies. The intent of this award
mechanism is to increase the clinically relevant impact of breast cancer patient participation in
clinical studies by addressing the knowledge lost due to early trial termination, limited patient
follow-up, or suboptimal sample and/or data collection and analysis. Patients’ contributions of
tissue, serum, and other biologic specimens and their data are invaluable to saving lives.

Era of Hope Scholar Award
The intent of the FY26 BCRP Era of Hope Scholar Award is to support individuals early in their
careers with significant potential to effect meaningful change in breast cancer. The award
requires exceptionally talented scientists that are the “best and brightest” in their field(s), with
demonstrated experience in forming effective partnerships and collaborations and strong
potential for future leadership in breast cancer research.

Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Development Award
The intent of the FY26 BCRP Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Development Award
(TBCCDA) is to provide successful applicants the time and resources needed to bring
investigators and breast cancer consumer advocates together to establish a consortium
framework and conduct preliminary research in support of an application to a future, full BCRP
Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Award (TBCCA) (pending availability of funds).
