Description

Pre-Application Submission Deadline: 5:00 p.m. Eastern time (ET), September 28,

 Application Submission Deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET, October 19, 2022

The intent of the FY22 RTRP Concept Award is to support the exploration of a highly
innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem relevant to
reconstructive transplantation and the FY22 RTRP Concept Award Focus Areas. The Concept
Award is not intended to support a logical progression of an already established research project,
but instead supports high-risk studies that have the potential to reveal entirely new avenues for
investigation.

The proposed research must be relevant to active-duty Service Members, Veterans, military
beneficiaries, and/or the American public.
The RTRP challenges the scientific community to design innovative research that will optimize
form, function, appearance, and psychosocial health for catastrophically injured Service
Members, Veterans, and American civilians through the development of effective reconstructive
transplantation solutions. More specifically, the RTRP seeks vascularized composite
allotransplantation (VCA)-focused research. VCA refers to the transplantation of multiple
tissues such as muscle, bone, nerve, and skin, as a functional unit (e.g., a hand or face) from a
deceased donor to a recipient with a severe injury. The ultimate goal is to return injured Service
Members to duty and restore their quality of life.

A pre-application is required and must be submitted through the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) at https://eBRAP.org prior to the pre-application deadline. All applications must conform to the final Funding Opportunities/Program Announcements and General Application Instructions which can be found on the Grants.gov website (https://Grants.gov).  A listing of all CDMRP and other USAMRDC extramural funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420.
