Description
Clinical Trial Award
The FY26 PRCRP Clinical Trial Award (CTA) mechanism supports the rapid execution and
analysis of clinical trials with the potential to have a significant impact on the treatment or
management of cancer within at least one of the FY26 PRCRP Topic Areas. Investigators may
design a clinical trial to evaluate promising new products, pharmacologic agents (drugs,
biologics or medical devices), clinical guidance and/or emerging approaches and technologies.
Proposed projects may range from small proof-of-concept trials (i.e., pilot, first-in-human, phase
0) to demonstrate the feasibility or inform the design of more advanced trials through large-scale
trials to determine efficacy in relevant patient populations.
Idea Award
The intention of the Idea Award is to fund innovative basic research that may introduce a new
paradigm, challenge existing paradigms, look at existing problems from new perspectives, or
exhibit other highly creative qualities. The Idea Award is not intended to support a logical
progression of an already established research project or line of research. Incremental
advances, the next logical step, or switching a model system from one cancer to another cancer
are not considered innovative.
Impact Award
The FY26 PRCRP Impact Award supports high-impact and translational research that can
accelerate promising findings toward clinical applicability. The intent of the Impact Award mechanism is to fund mature research projects that specifically focus on critical scientific or clinical cancer issues, which have the potential to make a major near-term impact on at least one of the FY26 PRCRP Topic Areas and in at least one of the FY26 PRCRP Strategic Goals as outlined in the FY26 PRCRP portfolio categories.
