The Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP) released program announcements for the following funding opportunities:
- – Clinical Trial Award
- – Clinical Translation Research Award
- – Translational Research Award
- – Investigator-Initiated Research Award

The SCIRP has developed a strategic plan that outlines the program’s approach to addressing critical gaps in SCI research, patient care, and quality of life. Currently, the SCIRP seeks innovative and impactful research that addresses the following strategic priorities:
- – Preserving and protecting spinal cord tissue at time of injury for improved neurologic outcomes
- – Identifying and validating biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and for evaluation of treatment efficacies
- – Developing, testing, and validating promising interventions to address bowel, genitourinary, neuropathic pain, cardiopulmonary, or autonomic dysfunction in people with SCI **Updated for FY22**
- – Investigating psychosocial issues relevant to people with SCI, their families, and/or their care-partners **Updated for FY22**
- – Rehabilitation and regeneration-maximizing the function of the residual neural circuitry, including harnessing neuroplasticity and recovery to improve function after SCI

A pre-application is required and must be submitted through the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) at https://eBRAP.org prior to the pre-application deadline.

A listing of all CDMRP and other USAMRDC extramural funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420. Applicant organizations must be registered in SAM (https://www.sam.gov/SAM/) and receive confirmation of an “Active” status before submitting an application through Grants.gov.
