Deadlines

Academic Unit: Inquire with Unit

Memorial Deadline: Tuesday 19th, June 2018

External Deadline: Friday 22nd, June 2018

Description

PRNL is calling for proposals that address Environmental Research themes relevant to the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The environmental research objectives are:

  • to generate and increase the level of knowledge and understanding of Newfoundland’s offshore environment and ecosystem to evaluate the effects of the offshore environment upon the safety of offshore activities, as well as the effects of the offshore oil and gas industry on the environment;
  • to ensure and improve environmental performance and protection during offshore exploration, development, operations and decommissioning activities; and
  • to enhance the mutual knowledge and understanding between industries operating in the shared marine environment.

Research focus areas of interest include, but are not limited to, environmental response and capacity, greenhouse gas reductions and capture, offshore waste management of produced water and other wastes, and environmental monitoring technology and results such as equipment enhancement and environmental genomics.

PRNL seeks research and technology development projects that are strategically or commercially relevant to the innovation, commercialization or advancement of knowledge, equipment, technologies or operating processes that may improve efficiency, reduce wastes, mitigate the environmental risks of business activities; create opportunities for integrated environmental response; or have other potential to create value for our members.  Projects may range from early phase applied research or feasibility, to full scale technology, process or resource adaptation or development.

Applicants must submit a completed Letter of Intent (LOI) and Conditions of Submission of Information form no later than 1:00 pm (NST), June 22nd, 2018. “LOI” and “Conditions of Submission of Information*” forms are available through PRNL’s website (www.petroleumresearch.ca).  For further details on the application process please review the “Proposal Submission Guidelines” also available on PRNL’s website.

*CONFIDENTIALITY
PRNL respects the desire of proponents to protect their project concepts, and conducts itself accordingly. However, PRNL regularly receives proposals that are similar to work already being undertaken, concepts already being pursued, or which may be pursued in the future independent of the proponent’s information, either by PRNL or by its members and their affiliates. As a result, all LOIs must be accompanied by a completed “Conditions of Submission of Information” form which acknowledges that the LOI is submitted on a non-confidential basis.
PRNL will use submitted information for the sole purpose of considering and evaluating whether it may fund further research or development of concepts submitted. If, in the future, either PRNL or the proponent wishes to disclose further specific information in confidence, this will be done only after PRNL enters into separate written agreements covering the treatment of that information.
Should PRNL choose not to approve any proponent’s proposed research or concept for further consideration and/or funding, PRNL will destroy its copies of the submitted information.
