Description
The Government of Canada has announced the Funding Research for Evidence in School Food and Health (FRESH) Team Grant, delivered through CIHR as part of the National School Food Program. The opportunity is focused on generating evidence to improve school food policy, programming and practice in Canada.
At a high level, this funding is best suited to research partnerships, not a single organization applying on its own. To be eligible, applications must include a tripartite leadership team with:
- – an independent researcher
- – a senior decision-maker
- – a knowledge user with lived experience of, or expertise in, school food environments or food systems
The lead applicant must be affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution or not-for-profit organization with the capacity to carry out the research, and must be based in Canada for the duration of the grant.
Key timing:
- Registration deadline: June 25, 2026
- Application deadline: October 7, 2026
- Funding start date: January 1, 2027
