Description

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new call for proposals, Strengthening Canada’s Skills with PIAAC Research!  Researchers based in Canada are invited to apply by January 6, 2026 at 5 p.m. EST.

Canada has a unique opportunity to deepen its understanding of adult skills and their role in driving prosperity and well-being using the OECD’s Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) – a rich dataset that sheds light on the distribution of foundational skills and the ways they influence labour market outcomes, productivity, social participation, and quality of life. This competitive open call for proposals is designed to unlock the potential of PIAAC data for Canada.

Future Skills Centre will fund policy-relevant research projects that address critical gaps in evidence, build national research capacity, and meaningfully mobilize findings. FSC welcomes proposals developed around diverse research methodologies and expect all proposals to utilize Cycle 2 of the PIAAC data in the research design.

For more on FSC’s commitment to a Canadian PIAAC Research Agenda, review our scoping report, Skills for Productivity, Prosperity and Well-being in Canada. Learn how to apply to the call by visiting our Open Call For Proposals page.
