Mitacs is proud to announce the launch of new funding opportunity available to our full and associate member partner institutions: The Mitacs – Horizon Europe International Mobility Award (IMA) is designed to link Canadian researchers and innovators with the largest funding framework in the European Union.
In July 2024, Canada joined Horizon Europe as an associated country under Pillar II, focused on creating solutions to today’s most pressing societal issues. Mitacs is helping support Canadian participation in the program.
Key details on the Horizon – Europe IMA:

- – Designed to enable Canadian researchers & innovators to build partnerships with European institutions and industry leaders.
- – Open to faculty at eligible Canadian universities and representatives from small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in R&D activities.
- – Eligible Canadian faculty members and industry representatives can access up to $10,000 CAD ($5,000 CAD per individual traveler).
- – Funding supports travel and participation in consortia-building activities tied to Horizon Europe Pillar II projects (including airfare, accommodation, event registration fees, and other mobility-related expenses).
- – Successful applicants will gain opportunities to attend relevant events, connect with large-scale consortia, and collaborate on proposals in the 2026-2027 Horizon Europe work programme.
