Description

The Mitacs-JSPS Summer Program, offered in partnership with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) provides opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Canada to pursue collaborative research in Japan, allowing them to advance their own research while promoting scientific progress in both Japan and Canada.

The call for applications will close on November 27, 2019, at 5 p.m. PT. Results will be communicated in April 2020. Successful applicants will travel to Japan for a period of 10 weeks in summer 2019. Applications are awarded competitively and subject to available funding.

Jumpstart your application for the October 2018 call for proposals:

  1. Talk to your faculty supervisor or university international office to identify a professor in Japan who works in your research area.
  2. Reach out to the professor(s) about your research and hosting your potential project.
  3. Get signatures from your home and host professors and university Office of Research Services (or equivalent), then submit your complete application by the deadline.
