Memorial Deadline: Thursday 2nd, March 2023

External Deadline: Tuesday 7th, March 2023

Description

RIS will be offering support with application development for this opportunity. Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Jennifer Stevens (v5js@mun.ca) early during the development process to discuss the services available to them.

In response to the rapid development and deployment of quantum technologies, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) are seeking to stimulate the application of advances for quantum technologies in the defence and security domain.

What IDEaS provides

Innovation Networks calls for proposals support the creation of smaller research clusters, or micro-nets, that perform research on one or more aspects of a science and technology (S&T) challenge. Successful applicants will enter into a non-repayable contribution agreement with DND. The maximum contribution per micro-net is $3 million over four years.

What innovators bring

To address DND/CAF needs, the IDEaS program is looking to develop several research micro-nets focusing on defence and security applications, specifically: quantum sensing and sensors (including for positioning, navigation and timing), quantum communications, and quantum computing, simulations and algorithms.

Challenge

In response to the rapid development and deployment of quantum technologies, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) are seeking to stimulate the application of advances for quantum technologies in the defence and security domain. Currently, most research and development work within academia and industry focuses on commercial applications. To leverage that work to address DND/CAF needs, the IDEaS program is looking to develop several research micro-nets focusing on defence and security applications, specifically: quantum sensing and sensors (including for positioning, navigation and timing), quantum communications, and quantum computing, simulations and algorithms.

Deadline

The deadline to submit your letter of intent is 14:00 Eastern Standard Time (EST) Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

PLEASE NOTE: Only applicants who have successfully passed the letter of intent stage of the process will be invited to submit a full proposal
