Description

The Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute aims to build a cancer research effort that:

  1. encompasses all aspects of cancer research,
  2. transforms our understanding of cancer,
  3. pioneers major improvements in cancer treatments and care,
  4. discovers ways to detect cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages,
  5. discovers ways to prevent cancer progression and metastasis, and
  6. is a leading force in cancer research in Canada.

The New Investigator Awards

Opportunity is offered once per year in September with a set deadline. A Scientific Review Committee will be appointed to review the grant submissions. Applicants must be within the first five years of initial academic appointment and be a member of BHCRI as either Associate or Scientist. The New Investigator Awards will be for $25,000 per year for two years. As many as three grants per year will be offered with one each to basic, clinical and population researchers, with this last category very broadly defined.
