We would like to inform you of the upcoming launch of the next SSHRC Impact Awards competition on December 7, 2018. The Impact Awards recognize exceptional SSHRC-funded researchers and students and celebrate their achievements in research, research training, knowledge mobilization and outreach activities.

Beginning December 7, institutions eligible to administer SSHRC funding are invited to put forward nominations in the following categories:

Gold Medal ($100,000)
Talent Award ($50,000)
Insight Award ($50,000)
Connection Award ($50,000)
Partnership Award ($50,000)

Institutions will have until April 1, 2019 to submit their nominations. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the fall of 2019. We invite you to read about the previous Impact Awards winners.

To facilitate the preparation of nomination packages, SSHRC has made some changes to the nomination package and selection criteria:

  • The promotion strategy component has been removed. Note that only winning institutions will be asked to provide a promotion strategy;
  • The capability criterion, formerly linked to the promotion strategy, has been removed and the weighting of the challenge criterion has been increased to 25%;
  • The new institutional nomination letter and rationale component merges the previous cover letter and nomination rationale components. This new component has a limit of three pages.
