Description

Competition 201901SRL (Letter of Intent) 201909SRN (Full Application)
Application Deadline 2019-01-17 2019-09-26

The goal of the Sepsis Research Network Initiative (the Network) is to fund a single nationally coordinated research network to further understand the causes and improve the prevention, detection and management of sepsis. The Network will bring together experts from different disciplines working collaboratively on a number of inter-related research projects under an integrated and unified program of research.

This funding opportunity will support a Network relevant to the following research areas:

  • Understanding the pathogenesis, causes and possible prevention of sepsis;
  • Improving the prevention, detection and management of sepsis;
  • Understanding the roles diabetes mellitus and glucose control have on outcomes in patients with sepsis; and
  • Understanding the roles metabolism and nutrition may play in the treatment and outcomes for patients with sepsis.

Additional Partner Funding

Mitacs and CIHR are partnering together to provide additional funding and training for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in projects in the field of sepsis research. The partnership is open to Network grant applicants where an internship would add value to the overall project. To be considered relevant for Mitacs funding, an application must involve a host partner organization that meets the Mitacs partner organization eligibility criteria (for-profit and not-for-profit organizations in Canada).

The Network application funded in this competition will have expedited access to Mitacs funding for training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. In support of these projects, Mitacs will help foster two-way interactions between academic and industrial partners, through Mitacs Accelerate graduate research internship program and Elevate post-doctoral fellowship program.

Additional Program Details are available on CIHR’s website.
