Wild Blueberry Association of North America (WBANA) 2022 – Preliminary Research Proposals (PRP)
Academic Unit: inquire with unit
Memorial Deadline: Wednesday 27th, April 2022
External Deadline: Sunday 1st, May 2022
The Health Research Committee of the Wild Blueberry Association of North America (WBANA) is
accepting Preliminary Research Proposals (PRP) specifically for pilot projects and smaller projects with
shorter timelines that would be funded during the second half of 2022.
The goal of this PRP is to allow WBANA to determine if the project fits within the organization’s scope of interests and available funding. WBANA will consider providing support for relevant projects already
underway and currently receiving funds from other sources, as long as the project is completed by March 31, 2023.
Note: This PRP opportunity is separate from, and in addition to, WBANA’s usual PRP, which provides
funding beginning in 2023. (If you’d like to receive Guidelines for the other type of PRP, email K. Broihier at the email below.) Researchers may submit more than one PRP of either or both types.
Short-Term Project PRPs should be submitted to Kit Broihier at email@example.com by May 1,
2022. Applicants will receive acknowledgement of PRP receipt via email. Those applicants whose PRPs are of interest to WBANA will receive an email request for additional information/clarification.
Proposal Process Deadlines:
5/1/22 Due date for Short-Term Project PRPs
5/10/22 Date by which request for additional information/clarification will be emailed
to applicants whose PRPs are of interest to WBANA
5/30/22 Date by which WBANA will notify successful applicants of final funding decision

blueberries/blueberries or other specific and relevant benefits of wild blueberries.

availability of any leveraging funds. Note: As a 501(c)(5) non-profit, it is the policy of WBANA not
to pay for overhead costs
• Abbreviated bibliography of key studies relevant to the proposed research
• Estimated need for frozen wild blueberries, wild blueberry and placebo powders
About WBANA’s Health Research program and priorities:
WBANA is a small trade organization with a limited health research budget. We strive to support as many high-quality projects as possible.
Our current research priorities are to examine the effects of wild blueberries in the areas of:
neuroscience, cardiovascular, metabolic health, and wellness in aging. However, compelling short-term
projects and pilot projects in complementary areas of study will also be considered.
