The ‘Plan Project Execution’ phase contains the project management planning processes associated with planning the execution of a project. At this point in the life cycle of a research project, a research proposal has been submitted to a sponsor, approved, contracted, and a research account has been opened.
Depending on the nature of the research proposal, an initial project plan may have been developed. However this initial, or baseline plan, may need to be updated to reflect sponsor imposed conditions on funding. Also at this phase, further project scope, schedule, and budget planning and refinement can be carried out to detail and clarify project execution plans.
